Design Department - Atlanta Headquarters
Title: Electrical Group Leader
Reports to: President
Location: Atlanta, GA (Headquarters)
Compensation Status: Exempt
SCOPE:
This position provides technical expertise in designing and engineering building electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, security, paging, and low-voltage data systems. This role ensures safe, reliable, and energy-efficient operation while applying advanced engineering principles to solve complex challenges. The incumbent independently makes critical design decisions, supervises and mentors engineering staff, and collaborates with other group leaders to optimize team efficiency and project execution, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Develop scope of work documents for the preliminary design/engineering process.
· Develop design criteria and equipment selection in preliminary design/engineering process for preparation of construction documents.
· Develop specifications, working drawings, instructions, and other related documents of a complex project of large size or projects of medium and small size.
· Responsible for overseeing the electrical design group for production of full permit and construction drawing packages.
· Maintain license in a variety of states/jurisdictions to sign and seal as the Engineer of Record for all electrical drawing packages produced by electrical design group.
· Responsible for quality assurance/quality control of all drawing packages produced by the electrical design group.
· Analyzes complex engineering problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures.
· Monitors project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget.
· Plan, organize, and supervise the work of junior engineers, coordinating their contributions to specific projects.
· Plan, organize, and supervise engineering activities for a project of significant size and complexity or two or more projects of small and medium size and complexity.
· Communicate appropriate information on project status, scope changes and problem areas to project managers.
· Maintain current knowledge of National Electrical Codes and NFPA as well as design and construction procedures to meet changing priorities.
· Collaborate with design directors and president to determine long-range plans and objectives of the company.
· Assist in the selection of new employees for the department, and act as a mentor to promote initial growth within the department.
· Participate in man-hour estimates for the engineering activities and provides guidance to subordinate.
· Interface with project managers to determine specific project staffing needs.
· Collaborate with senior management to set team goals and conduct performance reviews.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s degree
· 10+ years of relevant experience or equivalent knowledge/experience
· Professional Engineer (PE) license required
· Strong understanding of electrical engineering software’s/computer applications to effectively manage engineering assignments

Title: Lead Estimator
Reports to: Vice President of Preconstruction
Compensation Status: Exempt
SCOPE:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Estimator to join our dynamic design/build construction team. This role is critical in developing and managing cost estimates, overseeing bid preparation, and ensuring accuracy in project budgeting. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in structural, civil, fire protection, and MEP estimating across all project phases (SD, DD, CD) while leading a team of estimators to achieve project goals efficiently.
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and manage execution plans for estimating tasks.
- Act as an advisor/coach to junior estimators, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Verify project scope, survey material quantities, and coordinate costs with subcontractors.
- Develop and maintain an updated vendor/subcontractor list within the company database.
- Assist with the buyout process in collaboration with operations teams.
- Create and organize scope sheets for quantity takeoffs for the full division.
- Perform independent reviews and checks on estimates prepared by team members.
- Ensure all cost estimates meet deadline challenges and accuracy expectations.
- Lead bid efforts for projects of all sizes, organizing bid-day assignments and responsibilities.
- Conduct quantity takeoffs for materials and assemblies from drawings.
- Engage with subcontractors for pricing input and follow-ups to ensure competitive bids.
- Prepare and present completed estimates to Preconstruction Director, Business Unit Leader (BUL), and Leadership Team.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers, designers, and engineers, to align estimates with project goals.
- Stay updated on industry trends, construction costs, and market conditions to improve estimating
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a focus on design/build projects.
- Expertise in structural, civil, fire protection, and MEP estimating at different design stages (SD, DD, CD).
- Strong leadership abilities to guide and mentor a team of estimators.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum 5-10 years of experience in estimating within the construction industry
