This past Summer Kajima Building and Design offered six students paid internships with the purpose of providing hands-on experience and training in their desired fields of studies. These students varied in which universities they attend as well as fields of study/ interest. We greatly enjoyed and appreciated our interns and wish them all the best in the careers going forward. Three of our interns were interviewed and gave insight to their experiences as a Kajima Building and Design Summer Interns.
Marketing Intern
How was your experience with KBDG as an intern?
-My experience interning with KBDG has been amazing. I love the team and the culture is great. Everyone on the marketing team has been wonderful in fostering my professional growth and skill development.
Is there anything new or interesting that you have learned during your internship?
-I’ve picked up a lot of useful tips and information from everyone. I would say the most interesting thing I’ve learned would have to be web design. Kevin is like an encyclopedia when it comes to all things marketing and he’s done a great job getting me involved with web design.
Which location did you work and how would you describe the environment?
-I had the pleasure of working in the Atlanta office. The environment is very welcoming and comfortable, I never felt intimidated or afraid to mess up. I was always given great feedback and constructive criticism and I could ask anyone for help whenever it was needed.
What was the most memorable part of your internship?
-The most memorable part of my experience was going on a site tour to Cass White in White, GA. As a marketing major, I had never been on a construction site, so it was exciting to see and learn about the building process firsthand. I was also able to capture content that I later used for a few projects throughout my internship.
How do you feel the experience you gained prepared you for a career in your desired field?
-I feel I have gained an immense amount of information and experience; each day I feel I learned something. I can now use this expertise as a foundation for whatever path I decide in marketing.

-The one thing that interests me on a project of this size is how every trade works independently but in unison as well. It reminds me of an orchestra.
Which location did you work and how would you describe the environment?
-The project I was a part of was a confidential project in Liberty, North Carolina. I would describe the environment to that of seeing your old high school best friend. From the day I started I have been welcomed with open arms.
What was the most memorable part of your internship?
-It is hard to penpoint one memorable moment with all the great memories that I have made with the Kanban room. I will be telling everyone stories at Thanksgiving’s dinner this year.
