Question: What is your favorite part of working for KBD?
My favorite part of working with Kajima Building & Design Group is the family environment here. It’s not just a job, it’s one team. We all support each other and communicate with each other on honestly, another level.
Question: What does a typical work day look like?
The typical workday is getting in early, running through my emails and checking in with my project team: my Superintendents, Project Engineers, and Assistant Project Managers. Then going through a day to day of items we need to have done. It’s always subject to change as a Project Manager.
Question: What is the biggest obstacle you deal with as a Project Manager?
One of the biggest obstacles that I personally do is helping out on closeouts. So we like to meet with the owner and get everything itemized, compiled and completed. So we can get everything over to them, as soon as possible, in a timely manner.
Question: What is the most rewarding part of being a Project Manager?
The most rewarding part of being a Project Manager is being able to help people. Not only do I get to help the owners, but I also facilitate and help those under me, to become essentially project managers themselves.
Question: What advice do you have for someone looking to starting out as a PE?
The advice I have for someone looking to start out as a Project Engineer is to reach out. Networking is all about who you know. Take a chance and just talk to someone about what you want to do.
