Daily Logs play a crucial part in our day-to-day success.  They provide man-hour totals which help drive schedule decisions as well as insights into other matters. KBD Group has elected to allow Subcontractors & Vendors to enter their logs directly into our own. Those tools which are available to our Subcontractors & Vendors are marked below with asterisks.

As such, these entries are required every day not only for KBD Group employees but also the Vendors that work with us.

Navigate to the Daily Log tool. This simple act automatically creates the log for the current day.

More often than not entries from day to day do not change drastically.  KBD Group employees can copy one day to the next to save time for all users.

Locate then click the Copy button located in the top right corner of the screen.

Select the date from which to copy the entries then select the sections to copy by checking the appropriate boxes.  Keep in mind that items cannot be copied if they do not exist.

When everything has been selected click Copy.

Performing this step will also populate the Subcontractors & Vendors daily log entries saving them time as well.

SEARCH

At some point it will be necessary to search for keywords or phrases.  To do so, type a term or phrase into the search bar then click Enter on the keyboard.

Results are displayed in the following screen.

FILTER

It may be useful to filter out extraneous information to better focus on a topic or issue.  Click Add Filter then select Created By in the dropdown.

From there, select the name(s) of the creators. Only entries created by those selected will remain in view.  If no entries exist, the screen will look as though it is a brand new day and no entries will be seen.

By default, the Daily Log tool opens up to today’s date. If it is needed to view the previous day click the left chevron to back up one calendar day.

The quickest and easiest way to view a day in a previous week, month, etc. is to select a date from the calendar.  Click today’s date then pick the desired date from the dropdown then click outside of the calendar.  The page will update immediately.

To view a range of dates select Date Range from this same dropdown, select the desired date range then click outside of the calendar. The page will update immediately.

Daily weather conditions are automatically recorded based on the project location and are included in every log entry.

There may be times where the recorded entries do not match the actual conditions experienced at the project site.  It is the project team’s responsibility to accurately record the observed conditions if this occurs.

Do this by creating entries in the section labeled Observed Weather Conditions.  It may be closed when the page loads, if so, click the to expand it.

If the section is blank, enter the pertinent details, scrolling to the right to view all available fields including comments and attachments. When finished click Create.

Other sections are available for use as part of the Daily Log tool.  The functionality for each is similar to those described in other sections of this page.

As Subcontractors & Vendors create their daily entries, KBD Group employees will see a yellow banner indicating that there are entries to review. Click Review Entries.

In the next screen those entries awaiting review are grouped by section. Check the box located to the left of each entry then click Approve Entries.

Disagreements can and do happen. If the KBD Group employee disagrees with an entry it is still necessary to approve it as written. Clarification as to why there is a disagreement is to be placed in the Daily Construction Report section.

Once all entries have been reviewed & accepted the next step is to complete the day. This locks in the entries preventing edits and/or late responses.

Locate the banner along the bottom of the screen.

Check the box then click either Complete Only or Complete & Distribute.

Complete Only simply closes the day while Complete & Distribute will do the same but also send out notification to those in the distribution list for the Daily Logs tool.
