Sanko Groundbreaking Ceremony

Sanko Breaks Ground on First US Manufacturing Plant

Sanko marked a major milestone on February 11, 2026 with the groundbreaking of its new Manufacturing Plant in San Antonio, Texas. The ceremony brought together company leaders, project partners, and local government officials to celebrate the beginning of a project that will play a critical role in Sanko’s longterm North American strategy.

A Ceremony Marked by Tradition, Respect, and Collaboration

A Shinto priest led a traditional Jichinsai (groundbreaking purification ceremony) for Sanko, a Japanese manufacturing company who specializes in producing plastic bins and pallets. Several Sanko representatives shared how pleased they were with the ceremony and the care taken in its preparation. They described the event as well organized, warm, and respectful; a reflection of the strong collaboration among all teams involved.

Sanko expressed appreciation for the support provided by Kajima, noting that the coordination leading up to the ceremony was seamless and thoughtful. The team also thanked everyone who worked closely with the head priest to ensure that the traditional cultural elements were conducted properly.

Supporting Sanko’s Strategy for North American Growth

The new Texas facility represents a significant step forward in Sanko’s long-term expansion across the United States. As the company continues to grow its presence in the region, this plant will play a vital role in strengthening both operational capability and customer support.

The facility is designed to:

  • Increase U.S. manufacturing capacity to support Sanko’s major customers
  • Improve supply chain efficiency by bringing production closer to demand
  • Enhance responsiveness to customer needs, particularly in the automotive and plastics components markets
  • Position Sanko for future growth by establishing a strong manufacturing foundation in the region

By expanding its footprint in Texas, Sanko is building a more agile, and customer focused manufacturing network.

Looking Ahead

“We sincerely hope that this new facility will continue to prosper here in San Antonio and become a foundation that supports Sanko’s future for many years to come.”

shared by Hide Kajiyama, Senior Vice President at Kajima International Inc.
